Sustainable “Green” Community

The Task Force’s vision to make Ho‘opili a sustainable, “green” community included:

• Incorporate green building practices and be an environmentally-sound, healthy and resource-efficient community;
• Provide lots of parks, open space and community facilities;
• Plan for and properly phase utility infrastructure development;
• Reduce automobile dependency by creating a compact community with a mix of uses;
• Preserve views to Diamond Head and surrounding mountains; and
• Preserve and protect O‘ahu’s precious natural resources.

Sustainable communities provide lots of parks, open space and community facilities.
